National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is an engineering college located in the town of Berhmpur, Odisha. It was started in 1996 with the aim of promoting higher technical education. The college was under Berhampur University, and is now affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology.
Infrastructure and location
NIST is located in Palur Hills, about 7.4 miles (12 km) from the village, Berhampur, in southern Odisha, India. It is well connected by roads and railways to all major cities including Bhubaneswar, capital city of Odisha.
Its campus has five main buildings: the Lecture Hall Complex (LHC) which houses classrooms and laboratories; the Octagon, which houses a modern Computer Centre, an Internet room, Student Activities Centre, a computerized library and cafeteria; the business school; and the Galleria with 16 lecture halls and a 250-seat auditorium. Two new buildings, Atrium and TIFAC Core are the latest addition to the campus. Additional facilities include a very large capacity boys' hostel; a girls' hostel; a swimming pool; a lawn tennis court; a basketball court; a volleyball court and an aquarium building, many fountains, eucalyptus plantations and also a cactus garden.
