Miss Malta is a national Beauty pageant in Malta.

History

The Miss Malta contest was established in 1963 by the late George & Deggie Gatt Mangion as GM Productions. Over the years, the contest gave an opportunity to some 980 participants to show off their inner and outer beauty locally and abroad through representing Malta at International Beauty Contests around the World. Mrs Joanne Parascandalo has now the exclusive rights of the national pageant Miss Malta. In 2016 Edition the organization of such a prestigious contest is under the management of Glamorous Entertainment, directed by Mr Vince Taliana who took over the complete organization of the event with the aim to re-brand it and give it a new and complete makeover. Glamorous Entertainment has been in the modelling industry since 2002, organizing various beauty pageants and events. Glamorous Entertainment has in the past participated in many international beauty pageants like Mrs Universe, Mrs Europe, Mrs Globe, Mrs Commonwealth, Mr Universe Model and Miss Earth.

Miss Malta is the eldest pageant in Malta celebrating its 53 rd year this year. Miss Malta is the only pageant which gives emphasis to the various localities around Malta and our sister island Gozo. Mayors of the various local councils will fully support their respective contestant. Miss Malta will be televised live on national television.

Miss Malta is not linked with any other contest or organization being held in Malta and no other contest can represent his model as MISS MALTA.

National franchises

In the early years the winner participated in Miss World pageant. Between the years 1968 and 2001 the Miss Malta winners participated in the Miss Universe pageant. Rosalie Theuma was the last Maltese representative in Miss Universe. After this, starting from the year 2013,[1] the Miss Malta winner took part in Miss Intercontinental and managed to make it into the Top 15 semi-finalists in the year 2007 with Jasmin Schellmann.[2] Previously, Miss Malta also handled Miss World, Miss International and Miss Europe contests. As from 2016 the winner of MISS MALTA will be the national ambassador during the MISS EARTH pageant established by Carousel Productions in 2005, with the emphasis on preserving MOTHER EARTH

Miss Universe Malta

The winner of Miss Universe Malta automatically represents Malta at the Miss Universe. The license holders of the Miss Universe Malta title are Glow Promotions directed by Alan J. Darmanin and Jeff Francalanza. The Miss Universe Malta organisation has nothing to do with the Miss Malta organisation. The runners-up will go to Miss Grand International and Miss Supranational.
