Matthew 13 is the thirteenth chapter in the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament section of the Christian Bible. Sections 1-53 of this chapter form the 3rd of the Five Discourses of Matthew - called the Parabolic Discourse based on the parables of the Kingdom.[1]
Description
Matthew 13 consist of seven parables, two explanations of his parables, and the rejection of Jesus at his hometown Nazareth.
The chapter contains the following parables, in respective order:
- Parable of the Sower
- Parable of the Tares
- Parable of the Mustard Seed
- Parable of the Leaven
- Parable of the Hidden Treasure
- Parable of the Pearl
- Parable of Drawing in the Net
The following explanations of the first two parables are included:
- Explanation of the Parable of the Sower
- Explanation of the Parable of the Tares
At the end of Matthew 13, Jesus is rejected by the people of his hometown, Nazareth.
