KOSS (1380 AM, "NewsTalk 1380") is a radio station broadcasting a News/Talk format. Licensed to Lancaster, California, USA, it broadcasts from Palmdale and serves the Antelope Valley area. It came on air in August, 1956. The station is currently owned by High Desert Broadcasting LLC and features programming from ABC Radio, HLN and Radio America.

History

KOSS signed on as KBVM. The callsign was changed to KKZZ in 1973. The callsign was changed to KOTE in 1983.

In 1987, 1380 became KHJ 1380 with the call letters KHJJ, with a News/Talk format.

In 2000, the station became K-Jewel 1380 with an Adult standards format with the call letters KWJL.

In 2004, KWJL flipped to Spanish Oldies as Joyas 1380 (Spanish for "Jewels").

In September 2007, KWJL and KUTY swapped formats, and KWJL became NewsTalk 1380. The call sign was changed to KOSS in January 2008. The call letters had previously belonged to another local station KVVS 105.5 under a previous format.
