István Sándor Fülöp (born 18 May 1990)[1] is a Romanian footballer, with Hungarian descent who plays as a forward or midfielder for Liga I club Botoșani.

His brother, Lóránd Fülöp is also a footballer.

Club career

He made his debut on the professional league level in the Liga I for Botoșani on 21 July 2013 as a starter in a game against CFR Cluj.[2]

National team

In September 2016, it was widely rumored that, in case of him obtaining hungarian citizenship and being invited to play for the Hungarian National Team by the Hungarian Football Federation, he might choose to play for the Hungary instead of his native Romania.[3] He expressed frustrations with not being selected by Romania coach Christoph Daum for the Romanian squad traveling for the October 2016 away double against Armenia and Kazahstan in the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers despite his good form for Botosani.[4]
