Gyeongin National University of Education (GINUE) (경인교육대학교) is a national institution which provides training for future public elementary school teachers in South Korea. It was founded on May 23, 1946 under the name of Gaeseong School of Education in Gyeonggi-do(경기도립 개성사범학교). In 2003, the institution changed its name from Inchon National University of Education (INUE) (인천교육대학교) to Gyeongin National University of Education. The university is the largest educational institute for training future elementary school teachers in Korea.

The university has two campuses: Incheon campus in Gyesan-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, and Gyeonggi campus in Seoksu-dong, Manan-gu, Anyang in Gyeonggi-do. The university offers graduate and undergraduate programs, and has an attached elementary school.

Based on the educational philosophy of Korea, Gyeongin National University of Education aims to teach and study profound academic theories and methods for the development of the nation and human society. Also, it claims to train students to be leaders, and cultivate competent teachers for elementary school education.

May. 23, 1946 Approval of Gaeseong School of Education in Gyeonggi-do (경기도립 개성사범학교).
Mar. 25, 1952 The 4th graduation ceremony (total 621 people)
Jun. 28, 1952 Changed name into Inchon National School of Education (국립 인천사범학교), and its change of location approved.
Apr. 10, 1957 Opening of Elementary School affiliated with Inchon School of Education (인천사범학교 부속국민학교).
Feb. 12, 1962 The 10th graduation ceremony. (total 2,142 people)
Mar. 26, 1962 Opening of Inchon College of Education (인천교육대학).
Mar. 1, 1963 Opening of Elementary School Teacher's Training Center affiliated with the college (부설초등교육연수원).
Mar. 1, 1982 Elevated to four-year college.
Jul. 30, 1990 Moved to Gyesan-dong campus.
Mar. 1, 1993 Changed name into Inchon National University of Education (인천교육대학교).
Aug. 16, 1995 Opening of a Life-Long Education Center attached to the university (대학 부설 평생교육원).

Sep. 28, 2002 Ranked number one in the country in Joongang Ilbo's evaluation of college of education.
Mar. 1, 2003 Changed name from Inchon National University of Education to Gyeongin National University of Education (경인교육대학교).
May 18, 2004 Opened a Distant Education and Training Support Center attached to the university (부설 교육대학 원격 교육·연수지원센터).
Sep. 17, 2004 Selected as an excellent specialized university in the metropolitan area.
Mar. 1, 2005 Opened Gyeonggi campus.
Jun. 22, 2005 Selected as a university specialization support subject.
Mar. 26, 2006 The 60th anniversary of the opening.
Feb. 8, 2007 Selected as the best university of education and graduate school of education by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development.
May. 2008 Selected as an excellent university 5th times in the 5-year Metropolitan area universities specialization project.
Aug. 25, 2008 Selected as the best university in the evaluation of faculty academic achievements at national universities.
Mar. 31, 2009 Dr. Dong-Gweon Chung inaugurated as the 5th president.
Apr. 20, 2009 Selected as a member university in the national project of college-educational capability reinforcement.

Academics

Undergraduate College

Due to the university's specialized purpose, undergraduate college only offers one major, Elementary Education.

But students do have some choices in Specialized Courses, which covers deeper educational technics in various areas such as Computer Education, Korean Education, Music Education, etc.

Graduate School

Graduate school of education was open on Mar. 2, 1996 in order to produce competent educators for the advancement of elementary education. Currently, there are 305 full-time students enrolled majoring in 15 different programs. It offers the following majors:
