Fanndís Friðriksdóttir (born 9 May 1990) is an Icelandic football player who plays as a midfielder. Fanndís is currently part of the Iceland women's national team and competed in the 2009 and 2013 editions of the UEFA Women's Championship. Fanndís comes from Vestmannaeyjar but has mostly played in Kópavogur for Breiðablik. Fanndís scored her 1st goal for the Icelandic national team in a 1–0 win over China at the 2012 Algarve Cup. Fanndís scored her 2nd goal for the Icelandic national team in a 2-0 win over Northern Ireland in European qualifying for EM in Sweden 2013. Fanndís scored her 3rd goal for the Icelandic national team in a 1-0 win over China at the 2014 Algarve Cup. Before the 2013 season Fanndís transferred to Kolbotn in Norway.[1]

International career

Fanndís made her senior international debut for Iceland in a 2–0 defeat by Denmark at the 2009 Algarve Cup.

At UEFA Women's Euro 2009, Fanndís made two brief substitute appearances as Iceland were eliminated in the first round.[2] Four years later, national team coach Siggi Eyjólfsson selected Fanndís in the Iceland squad for UEFA Women's Euro 2013.[3]

Personal life

Fanndís's father is former Iceland men's national football team goalkeeper Friðrik Friðriksson and her mother is former Olympic alpine skier Nanna Leifsdóttir.[4]
