Big Woods State Forest

Coordinates: 36°56′17.0″N 77°04′52.4″W / 36.938056°N 77.081222°W / 36.938056; -77.081222 Big Woods State Forest is a state forest in Sussex County, Virginia. It is the first state forest property to be located in southeast Virginia. The Department of Forestry purchased the property in 2010. Work is underway to improve several interior roads and then open them to the public in time for the general firearms season. Hunting is permitted on the property.
