The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) (translation: Indian Farmers' Union) is an Indian farmers' representative organisation affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.[1] It is one of the well-known Sangh Parivar organization.[2] Under the able guidance of Shri Thengdi, Shri Bhau Saheb Bhaskute as the guiding soul, formed for the first time Bhartiya Kisan Sangh in Madhya Pradesh in 1978 and began its activities after getting the organisation duly registered. In this very conference, an all India organisation of Indian farmers named "Bhartiya Kisan Sangh" was established on 4 March by Shri Thengdi. On this very occasion Shri Thengdi declared emphatically and in clear words that this Organisation would be a non-political body of the farmers, for the farmers and by the farmers.[3] It has units in all states of India, with nearly 20,000,000 members.,[4] As of 2005, the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh is Mr. Prabhakar Kelkar and President is Mr. Aniruddha R. Murkute.[5]
