Antonio Briseño Vázquez (February 5, 1994) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays for Tigres UANL of the Liga MX. A central defender, he was the captain of the Mexico U-20 national team. He is nicknamed "El pollo" (The chicken).

Career

Club Atlas

Antonio Briseño began his football career with Club Atlas . Briseno was in Club Atlas's lower division teams for a period of time and finally made his breakthrough to the first team after his participation in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Briseño made his professional debut for Atlas September 30, 2011 vs Chiapas in a 1-1 draw. He came in as a substitute for Flavio Santos in the 86' minute of the game.[2] Briseño despite having enormous talent does not play regularly. he is used mostly as a substitute and is fighting to be used more frequently in the first team despite his young age.[3] On June, 2014, he was transferred to Tigres UANL.

International

Mexico U-17

In 2011 Antonio Briseño was chosen by coach Raúl Gutiérrez to be part of the Mexican squad that would host the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He was chosen as team captain and played every single game. in the Final versus Uruguay Briseño scored in the 31' minute of the game to make Mexico Champions. he helped Mexico win its 2nd World cup in that category the first one being in 2005.

Mexico U-20

in 2012 Antonio Briseño was selected to represent Mexico at the 2012 Milk Cup held in Northern Ireland . He captained the squad to the final Against Denmark in which they won 3-0.[6][7] in 2013 Antonio Briseño was selected again by coach Sergio Almaguer to be part of the Mexican squad participating in the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship held in Puebla, Mexico . he played every single match in the tournament and won Most Valuable Player of the tournament.[8] Briseño participated in the 2013 Toulon Tournament and played 3 out of 4 matches in which they placed 6th in the tournament. Antonio Briseño will be participating in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup which is going to be held in Turkey.
