The 1 µm process refers to the level of semiconductor process technology that was reached around the 1985-1986 timeframe[1][2] by the leading semiconductor companies, like Intel and IBM. It is the first process where CMOS is common (as opposed to NMOS).

- Intel 80386 CPU launched in 1985 was manufactured using this process.[3]
