It is quickly establishing itself as the first in Southeast Asia to create and collect images of residential properties for sale or for rent in 360 virtual reality, which can be viewed on ZipMatch.com, or on a special viewer. The company’s other flagship products are its 3D Floor plans, Nearby Projects Map, Neighborhood Establishments Map, and user-generated content features like Property Reviews and Broker Reviews.

ZipMatch was launched in April 15, 2013, under HomeMatch Corp., which is registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission. The company was founded by business partners Chow Paredes and John Dang, who first started the company as a brokerage firm of a few employees into a mid-sized technology business with a 70-strong workforce. It has since raised an undisclosed seed funding amount from IMJ Fenox, 500 Startups, Hatchd, and the Ideaspace Foundation in February 2014, and a Series A fund worth USD2.5 million led by Monk's Hill Ventures in March 2015.

The trade name ZipMatch was inspired from a popular dating match site. The company serves to connect homebuyers to their matched brokers.

Real Estate Listings

ZipMatch matches prospective buyers with brokers who can service them in buying or renting a preferred condominium unit, townhouse, or house. As a result, ZipMatch, generate qualified online leads to real estate brokers, property developers, and brokerage firms.

ZipMatch currently has a 36% market share in the secondary properties marketplace in the Philippines. Over 10,000 registered licensed real estate brokers, developer or freelance sales agents, and home sellers upload and publish residential properties for sale or rent on its website.

Explore Platform

In January 2015, ZipMatch released a new real estate platform called “Explore.”[1] The platform involves collating and curating all text information, photos, videos, 360 virtual reality images, 3D graphics, and other immersive, comprehensive content about a residential project or development in a single page called a Project Page. These Project Pages are then segmented into city locations. Paredes explained,

“By collating everything a home buyer would possibly need to know about a property into a single location and vetting its accuracy through our scout team, we are providing the tools Filipinos need to make smart and confident choices.”[1]

Because of the on-demand comprehensive information accessible through the Explore platform, the platform also generates qualified online leads. The platform is currently the number one marketplace in the Philippines for primary developers. It currently has a thousand Project Pages of residential properties across Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, and major cities outside National Capital Region.

360 Virtual Reality

In late 2015, ZipMatch quietly debuted[2] its immersive visual collection of residential properties in 360 Virtual Reality. The collection, which can either be viewed on the website, a residential property’s dedicated Property Page, or special content via a wearable display device, allows a person to explore the entire area of a property for sale, including the rooms.

Since introducing the new technology along with Ayala Land, Amaia Land, Anchor Land, and Crown Asia, ZipMatch continues to create content to add its current collection of 300+ moving images.

The 360 Virtual Reality collection was prominently featured in Bloomberg Television Philippines' Bright Ideas segment on November 5, 2015 on Cignal Channels 127 (HD) and Channel 8 (SD).[3]

Funding and Expansion

In February 2014 ZipMatch announced that it had raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from IMJ Fenox, 500 Startups, Hatchd, and the Ideaspace Foundation. Around the same quarter in 2015, the company also received $2.5 million in a Series A round, which was led by Monk's Hill Ventures. [4][5] Dang said the Series A funding will go towards expanding its coverage of the Philippines, along with the introduction of more back-end integration for the real estate professional and enterprise sides.[6] Dang also envisions moving into three to four countries one at a time within Southeast Asia in 2016.[7]
