Steve Dang (born May 29, 1994), better known by his stage name Yung Swiss, is a South African hip hop recording artist, singer, songwriter and performer from Rosettenville, Johannesburg. He is most known for his 2015 single David Genaro, which charted at #6 on the Hip Hop Thursdays Hot 99 at its debut and was available for download on Slikour OnLife. Yung Swiss’ biggest track to date is his contribution on Dj Speedsta’s hit single “Mayo” as his vocals were the chorus which set the tone for the track and is currently dominating charts across Africa. He is currently working on an EP titled Bottom Baby which includes recent singles such as “Locked Up” featuring Stanley Enow, “FUTC”, I Love It, David Genaro Remix which features Dj Speedsta, Reason and Ginger Trill. Growing Up, Swiss was influenced by the rhythm and blues sound which helped form him into the artist he is today. “I try to be different when making songs, whatever I feel like saying that day just comes out.”

Music career

In 2015, Swiss released his first single with South African rapper Reason, titled I Love It, which made its debut on the radio station YFM. It also aired on other radio stations such as 5FM. The I love it music video debuted on MTV BASE Africa. Swiss later released his second single David Genaro from his EP titled “Bottom Baby”. The song is a tribute to actor Jamie Bartlett for his role as puppet master and mogul-villain "David Genaro", which he plays in the popular local drama series, Rhythm City.[1] Since its release, the song has been aired multiple times during the screening of credits, pre and post of the television drama-series is aired.

In 2015 Yung Swiss was then featured on a single entitled Like Whoo by DJ Roxxi where he worked with other featured artists Nadia Nakai, and Reason.[2][3] Yung Swiss released the remix for his second single #DavidGenaroRemix on April 8, 2016 which was the most downloaded track of the week on Slikour OnLife, grossing over 10 thousand downloads just over the weekend alone. On September 9, 2016, Yung Swiss released his fourth single which is dubbed to take the African continent by storm "Locked Up" featuring Cameroon's powerhouse Stanley Enow which received instant positive reviews, as he had International crossed borders so early in his career. Yung Swiss is currently working with the production company Playground Productions whom have worked on projects that included Nigeria’s M.I, Victoria Kimani, and Nadia Nakai, as well as for corporates Brutal Fruit, Castle Lite and Vuzu Rich Kids. Yung Swiss encourages young artists to have confidence in their abilities and believe in their craft having said “ I believe that the more time you invest in what you want, the easier it’s going to get.” He has also collaborated with Dj Speedsta, Ginger Trill, Stanley Enow, Astryd Brown and fellow label mate Ricky Tyler.

On The 4th Of November, The young rapper released a new song called The High.[4]
