Ysgol Bro Gwaun
Ysgol Bro Gwaun is a secondary school in the town of Fishguard in north Pembrokeshire. It is a Welsh and English medium school. Pupils come from mainly Fishguard and Goodwick but also from the villages of Scleddau, Letterston and Newport. Also some pupils come from various farms in the area and farms in the Gwaun valley. The school was built in the 1960s because the old building (now demolished for Ysgol Glannau Gwaun) was too small. It was also designed, like Sir Thomas Picton, to be a cold war hospital in case of war. Today, the School has around 600 pupils and 50 members of staff. The staff levels have decreased due to the recession. There is talk around the local area of merging Ysgol Bro Gwaun with Ysgol Dewi Sant because of the amount of surplus places.
