The Wellness and Events Center (WEC) will be a 3,500 seat basketball arena in Newark, New Jersey. It is being built at a cost of US$102,000,000 by the New Jersey Institute of Technology.[3][4] The Wellness and Events Center will be the home court of the NJIT Highlanders, which as of the 2015–16 season became members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. It will replace the current arena of the Highlanders, Fleisher Center. The new arena broke ground on November 12, 2015 and is expected to open in time for the 2017–18 basketball season.[2]
