Information Builders is a privately held software company, with its headquarters in New York City. Information Builders is known for its business intelligence tools FOCUS and WebFOCUS.

History

Information Builders was founded in 1975 by Gerald D. Cohen, Peter Mittelman, and Martin B. Slagowitz. Their founding product was the database system called FOCUS.

Information Builders is one of the world’s largest privately held software firms.[1]

It operates in more than 60 global locations and has an active global customer base. Information Builders is a B2B software supplier for midsize and large enterprises, and a provider to some of the largest software vendors in the industry including HP, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Teradata, and others.

In 2001, it established iWay Software, a wholly owned company that focuses on data integration and service-oriented architecture (SOA).

The company announced[2] it had a record-breaking year in 2013. It reported it added more than 100 new accounts during the course of the year, a 20 percent increase from the prior year, and won accounts with major brands such as Ford, Wendy’s, the State of Michigan, Portugal Telecom, and two of the top three global payment processors.

Today, Information Builders has a worldwide presence with 47 sales offices and 26 national distributors and agents. It has more than 1,400 employees worldwide.
