Waiye (Somali: Waaciye) is a town in the Bari province of the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia.
Overview
Waiye is situated in the Waiye District of the Bari province. The town is located 54 kilometres (33 mi) north of Qardho, and 136 kilometres (84.5 mi) south of the city of Bosaso. It is inhabited by the Dashiishe, a member of the Harti confederation of Darod clans. Also waiye is being commonly known as Stronghold of Dishiishe sub-clan named "Reer boqor". However there are a figure of Dishiishe sub-clans inhabited there.
Waiye has a number of academic institutions. According to the Puntland Ministry of Education, there are 10 primary schools in the Waiye District. Among these are Faruuq, Jurile, Khalid Binuwalid and Waiye Primary.[1] Secondary schools in the area include Waiye Secondary.[2]
