WNS Global is a global business process management company headquartered in Mumbai, India. It has more than 32,000 professionals working in 42 "delivery centers" across the world, including India, United States, United Kingdom, China, Costa Rica, Philippines, Poland, Romania, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Adrian T. Dillon is the Chairman of the Board and Keshav R Murugesh is the group CEO.[3]

WNS is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WNS.[4] The company operates in two segments: WNS Global BPO and WNS Auto Claims BPO. Its clients are primarily in the travel, banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare and utilities, retail and consumer product industries.[5]

The company’s clients include Air Canada, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways, FirstMangus Financial, IndyMac Bank, Tesco and Travelocity, a subsidiary of Sabre Holdings.[6]

History

WNS began operations as a captive / in-house unit of British Airways in 1996 and was known as WNS World Network Services. From 300 employees in 2003, WNS has expanded to over 32,000 people today. It has 40 delivery centers worldwide and services over 200 Fortune 500 companies.[7]


1999 – Launches delivery centre in Pune India.[8]

2003 – Launches Knowledge Services Business.[9]

2004 – Sets up new centres in Colombo in Sri Lanka and Gurgaon in India.[10]

2006 – Comes out with an initial public offering and is listed on the NYSE, the first Indian business process outsourcing company to be listed on the exchange. It raises about $224 million at $20 per ADS.[11]

2008 – Launches new delivery centres in the Philippines and Romania.[12]

2009 – Launches second delivery centre in the UK, and expands the one it has in the Philippines.

2010 – Sets up delivery centre in Costa Rica.[13][14]

2011 – Acquires share from JV partner and assumes full control of the Philippines centre.[15]

2012 – Sets up first delivery centre in North America to service US clients.[16] It also sets up a centre in Poland.[17]

2013 – Launches new centre in China.[18]

2014 – Launches new centre in Pennsylvania.

WNS Global Services South Africa(Pty) Ltd

WNS Global Services Holdings acquired Fusion Outsourcing Services, which was owned by the BGL Group in 2012 [19] for £10 million as part of their global expansion strategy.Johann Kunz is,[20] the Managing Director of the South African region.South Africa was seen as an important acquisition due to its growth and capabilities in the outsourcing industry. It is a favourable offshoring destination for UK, Europe and Australian markets due to its competitive price point of between 45%-50%,[21] cultural affinity to the UK,US and Australian markets, well established infrastructure, large English speaking talent pool, time zone friendliness and business enabling environment supported by government incentives.[22]

Services

WNS offers customer care outsourcing, finance and accounting, human resource outsourcing, legal services, procurement, risk management, transformation solutions and research and analytics to ten industries. These are banking and financial services; healthcare; insurance; manufacturing; media and entertainment; retail and consumer packaged goods; shipping and logistics; telecommunications; travel and leisure; utilities and energy.[23]

Proprietary platforms and offerings

WNS has developed technology-enabled platforms like WNS-Verifare, WNS-Jade, WNS-Dynamic Discount Manager and WNS-ProClaim.[24] As a part of its analytics offerings, WNS has developed WNS Analytics Decision Engine or WADESM[25] and ProGenieSM[26] – a proprietary tool to help online visitors navigate the website.

Adrian T. Dillion is the chairman of the Board of Directors at WNS. He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committees of Williams-Sonoma, Inc, a specialty retailer of home products.[28][29] Keshav Murugesh is the CEO. He is responsible for executing the business strategy and directing the overall performance and growth of the organization. Murugesh has held several leadership positions in global companies, including President and CEO, Syntel Inc, and ITC Ltd, an affiliate of BAT Plc.[30]

In fiscal 2016, WNS made net revenues of $531.0 million, which represented 5.6% year-over-year growth or 11% on a constant currency basis. This top line improvement, coupled with operating and profit margin expansion, helped the company increase its adjusted net income to $103.0 million or $1.92 per diluted share.[33]
