WBCP (1580 AM) is a radio station broadcasting an Urban Adult Contemporary music format. It is licensed to Urbana, Illinois and broadcasts to the Champaign, Illinois area. The 1580 frequency was established as a daytime only operation in 1948 as WKID. Call letters were later changed to WCCR in 1969, WJTX in 1984, and WBCP in 1990. The station is currently owned by P & C Enterprises, Inc. Despite its solid signal throughout the Champaign area, WBCP has the distinction of being the radio station with the lowest daytime power of any licensed AM station in the USA. [1]
