Viscofan

Viscofan S. A. is a Spanish public company listed on the Ibex 35 of the Spanish Stock Exchange. Founded in 1975, the company manufactures casings and equipment for the meat production industry. Viscofan produces vegetable preservatives under the trademark "The Carretilla".[1]

With factories in Spain, Germany, The Czech Republic, Serbia, Mexico, Brazil, China and Uruguay, Viscofan claims to have sales in over 120 countries.[2]

History

In 1975, the company was incorporated in Spain as a "Sociedad Autonoma"(similar to an LLC).

Shareholders

As of 2015 Viscofan's two largest shareholders were Investments Legazpi S.A. (30.47%) and Family Basterra Larroudé (40.20%)[3][4]

They recorded a 2015 35.8% year-to-year growth in net profit, around €30.4 million according to the January–March 2015 interim management report.[5]
