The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority or VUDA is the urban planning agency of Visakhapatnam, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1978 by expanding the existing Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority. It now covers the entire area of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and its suburbs.[1]
Organisational structure
VUDA was formed in 1978. It is organized in multiple "wings" to carry out its mission:
- Planning wing
- Engineering Wing
- Accounts Wing
- General Administration Wing, dealing with establishment, allotment, auctioning, lease-related issues and PPP projects
- Estate Wing
- Urban Forestry Division
Jurisdiction
The jurisdictional area of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority is spread over an area of 5,573 km2 (2,152 sq mi). It comprises the three municipal corporations of Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, the four municipalities of Amadalavalasa, Anakapalle, Bheemunipatnam, Tuni, Yelamanchili and two nagar panchayats of Rajam, Nellimarla.[2]
