Venu V. Desam (born 1959 at Desam, Aluva, Kerala, India) is a Malayalam poet.[1] He was the first Malayalam poet to write gazals in Malayalam. Apart from original works many of which have received Awards, he has also translated different works of various classic writers into Malayalam, including those of Fyodor Dostoevsky, Schopenhauer, Leo Tolstoy, Khalil Gibran, Osho, Jiddu Krishnamurti, and Vladimir Korolenko.

Released five poetry collections (Aadiroopangal - 1981, Rathribhootham - 1983, Nilayillaatha Kazhchakal - 1996, Dhyani - 2008, Mohaandhakaarasanchaari - 2011)

Wrote gazals for the first time in Malayalam :Pranamam (Umbayee)

Translated 14 works of FM Dostoevsky. Also translated Dostoevsky's wife's memories.

Translated works of Gibran Khaleel Gibran, Osho, Jiddhu Krishnamurthi, Maxim Gorky, Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy, Jnaneshwar, Rabindranath Tagore, Guy de Maupassant, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Arthur Schopenhauer

He has also translated Indian Spiritual Texts like "Ashtavakragita" and Gyaneshwar's "Lalleswari"
