University of the Philippines Cherubim and Seraphim

The UP Cherubim and Seraphim is the official children's choir of the University of the Philippines. It composed of selected schoolchildren ranging from six-to-fifteen 6–15 years-old, the University's official children's choir has achieved national and international prominence having toured Europe, the United States, Canada and Asia.

On September 21, 1971, Flora Zarco Rivera has established the choir with 20 elementary school children from the College’s Saturday Music Extension classes. It was at first intended to be prominent laboratory for experiments in the choir of children singing in the country.[1]

In its 31 years of existence, the choir has joined various music festivals here and abroad. However, Elena Rivera Mirano, choir present director and Mirano have made it a choir policy not to join contests, as it encourages cooperation and not competition among members.
