Turate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of Milan and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Como. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,328 and an area of 10.1 square kilometres (3.9 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Turate contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Santa Maria, Mascazza, Piatti, and Fagnana.
Turate borders the following municipalities: Cirimido, Cislago, Fenegrò, Gerenzano, Limido Comasco, Lomazzo, Rovello Porro.
