Tomas ap Rhodri ab Owain Gwynedd

This is a Welsh name. It means Tomas son of Rhodri.
Not to be confused with a later Tomas ap Rhodri, who led a different branch of the same dynasty.

Tomas ap Rhodri was the only known son of the Rhodri who was the son of Owain Gwynedd and ruled of half of Gwynedd from 1170 until 1195.

In the 17th century, Sir John Wynn, 1st Baronet of Gwydir, proved his ancestor was Tomas ap Rhodri;[1] however, the Wynn family expired in the male line by the middle of the 18th century. A surviving line of male-line descendants of Tomas ap Rhodri are the Anwyls of Tywyn.
