The Scene Aesthetic is an American two-piece acoustic/indie pop band based in Seattle, Washington, featuring Andrew de Torres of Danger Radio and Eric Kimberlin.
History
The band gained recognition through MySpace after posting their first songs, specifically their popular first single, "Beauty in the Breakdown". They have been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone Magazine. They have toured throughout the United States with various acts such as Never Shout Never, Lydia, The Ready Set, Danger Radio, Stephen Jerzak, Anarbor. They toured the UK with Joe Brooks, and in fall of 2009, they toured with Owl City and Brooke Waggoner. They most recently toured with He is We and Carter Hulsey.
The Scene Aesthetic compiled their demo songs from MySpace onto their 2006 debut release, Building Homes from What We've Known. Their self-titled second album, featuring generally the same track list with a few additional songs, was released in 2007.
The Scene Aesthetic released a cover of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" in April 2009. On July 14, 2009, they released their EP entitled, A Type & a Shadow, featuring six new songs including "Come What May"
Both de Torres and Kimberlin have been writing new material and plan to release a new record in 2010.It is set to be produced by Marshall Altman. "Walk This Town","Love Through Postcards", and "If You're A Bird" are three tracks expected to be on the new record. An update on their official website stated that they are now mixing the new album.[1]
On June 8, The Scene Aesthetic announced the release of their first single from their upcoming album, Brother. The track, entitled "Never Gonna Let This Go", was released on June 22. On July 4, 2010, The Scene Aesthetic uploaded a new version of the song "Humans" (which will be on the new album) on PureVolume. On October 19, 2010, The Scene Aesthetic premiered the track "If You're A Bird" via a link online. On October 26, 2010, The Scene Aesthetic will release another track entitled "Why Don't We Try". On November 2, 2010, their new album Brother was released independently.
In May 2011, The Scene Aesthetic released a deluxe edition of Brother, which includes the Sister EP, containing three new tracks ("Love Through Postcards", "Constant Motion", "Lost Life to Lead") as well as acoustic renditions of three tracks on Brother ("Walk This Town", "Never Gonna Let This Go", "If You're A Bird"). In August 2011, The Scene Aesthetic released a new single, entitled "Everybody", from their upcoming EP,The Days Ahead. A music video for the new single was released in September. The Days Ahead was released on December 6, 2011.
