The Prom Kings was an American rock band based in Los Angeles, California, United States. Their first single, "Alone," started getting played on American rock radio stations in January 2005. Their self-titled debut album was released in August 2005. Their song "Blow" was featured in the movie The Island. The song "Blow" was also featured for the advertising commercial of the 2007 DVD release of the film Ghost Rider. The album received mostly negative reviews, gathering a lowly 1.5 stars out of a possible 5 on AllMusic.Com.
AllMusic reviewed the album by saying "They're no doubt rolling in a nondescript grey Chevy Malibu, because that's about how distinctive this album is..." citing the album's generic blandness.
The band consisted of Fredrik Ramberg (guitar), Renato López (guitar), Henry Strauch (drums), Mauricio Jacome (now a solo artist known as BRANDAO) (bass), and Chris Carney (vocals). They have been signed to independent record label Three Kings DBC. As of 2011 the record label's website has been taken down.
Lead singer Chris Carney was also featured on the show twentyfourseven on MTV. The show was cancelled after only 6 episodes, an unprecedented move by MTV. Carney died in 2015 of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.[2]
