Fairmont The Palm is a five-star Hotel[3] located on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The hotel is located on world’s largest man-made island shaped in the form of a palm tree. Fairmont The Palm, has views of the Persian Gulf and provide access to the Dubai Marina and business hubs such as Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Village. The hotel has 381 rooms and suites, including two presidential suites and a Fairmont Gold Lounge.

History

Fairmont The Palm opened in December 2012 as a joint venture between IFA Hotels & Resorts (IFA HR) and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. IFA Hotels & Resorts is a key stakeholder in the resort’s performance after investing $330 million in the development and performance of the hotel, making it one of the 1st hotels construction projects in Dubai to secure millions in global financing following the global economic crisis

Clive Ford from DSA Architects International was the chief architect on the project. The hotels interior was designed by HHCP Design International, which is based out of Florida. The 14 story high building takes architectural influence from the natural elements of sun and sea while the building’s interior features influence from Arabic culture and features over 100 mashrabiya motifs throughout the resort.

Facilities

Fairmont The Palm’s restaurants offer lounges in addition to international dining options serving dishes from the Chinese experience, to Frevo the Brazilian grill. Flow Kitchen serves nosh from Europe, Middle East and Asia. The hotel’s Willow Stream Spa, pool and beach complex comprises a private white-sand beach, four outdoor pools, water sports, together with Children’s Activity Center, fitness center, aroma steam rooms, and saunas and traditional hamams. The hotel has also has 3,000 square meters of meeting and function space including a ballroom, outdoor venues and a business center.[4] The hotel was built at a cost of 330 million USD,[5] and was opened on December 24, 2012.[6]

Partnerships

In May 2013, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced the “art@fairmont” program. The program aimed at integrating the region’s local culture within each hotel to bring guests and artists together. Fairmont, The Palm joined this initiative and featured various exhibitions from artists such as Sue Blackwell, Olivia Arthur, and Faig Ahmed. During Ramadan 2013, Fairmont The Palm gave guests the option to make a charitable contribution towards one of 3 local charities; Operation Smile, Red Crescent, and Dubai Cares. The hotel also partnered with Estée Lauder and local charity the Pink Caravan in October, 2014 to highlight the importance of breast health and early detection of breast cancer through a variety of pink-themed activities.

Fairmont The Palm is located in the heart of the Palm Jumeirah, the world’s largest man-made island in the shape of the palm tree. It is located in proximity to a variety of Dubai tourist attractions including the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, Dubai Mall, Marina Mall, Dubai Marina, and is only a few minutes away from Dubai International Airport.
