Tetrasphaera elongata is a polyphosphate-accumulating bacterium. It is meso-diaminopimelic acid-containing, gram-positive, asporogenous oval to rod-shaped and an aerobic chemoheterotroph, with type strain Lp2T (= JCM 11141T = DSM 14184T).[1]
