Taraknagar (তারকনগর) is a village of Nadia district, West Bengal, India situated 99 km north of Kolkata. It is also a station on the Kolkata Suburban Railway. Several local trains come from Sealdah every day.

Taraknagar is 99 km north of Kolkata (Calcutta) at 23°23′N 88°41′E / 23.38°N 88.68°E.
Education
Taraknagar has two high schools: "Taraknagar Ma Maharani High School" and "Taraknagar Jamuna Sundari High School." More than three primary schools are available there including one kindergarten.
In Taraknagar Main there is one high school and one primary school. Taraknagar Ma Maharani High School has been upgraded to an H.S.(12 class) high school from the session 2013-14 with optional subjects Geography, Environment studies, philosophy, History, Education & Sanskrit. 91 students appeared at the annual exam of class-XI held in March 2014.
Politics
Taraknagar is a small village where one can find only one panchayat,a local governing system in villages across India, namely Shibniwas Gram Panchayat.
TMC is the ruling party here in this region, which won the previously held elections with a majority of 12-1.

Krishnanagar is the district headquarters for Shibniwas Gram Panchayat.
