Tadeusz "Tad" W. Patzek is a Polish-born engineer.
As of 2014, he is Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. Patzek also serves as Director of the Upstream Petroleum Engineering Research Center (UPEC).[1] The focus of his research is mathematical modeling of earth systems with an emphasis on multiphase fluid flow physics and rock mechanics.
Life
Patzek obtained a M.S. 1974 in Chemical Engineering from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland, where he also completed his Phd in 1979. From 1981 to 1983 he did research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota's Chemical Engineering Department where he had already been in 1978 as a Fulbright Fellow.
After years as a researcher at Shell Development under M. King Hubbert, Patzek became a Professor of Geoengineering at the University of California, Berkeley in 1990. In 2008, he became Cockrell Family Regents Chair #11 Professor of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
