History

Syska Hennessy was founded in 1928, by two mechanical engineers, Adolph G. Syska and John F. Hennessy. Originally established in New York City as Syska & Hennessy Engineers, the firm was among the earliest to specialize in the complicated mechanical and electrical systems at the heart of iconic, high-rise 20th-century structures. Syska Hennessy provides integrated, high performance engineering solutions that support near or net zero and carbon neutral environmental performance of buildings as well as third party verified environmental ratings (U.S. Green Buildings Council LEED ratings, BREEAM, Estidama, 3-Star etc.). Syska Hennessy is an early adopter of the Architecture 2030 Challenge[5] which aims to help reduce green house gas emission to achieve carbon neutral/net zero performance in new buildings by 2030. The firm also ranked #19 in Engineering News Record's 2011 Top 100 Green Design Firms.
