Surendranath Centenary School is a public school in Ranchi, India. It is on H.B Road, Dipatoli, Ranchi. "Nothing Beyond" describes its ambitions and aspirations. It was established in 1988 by Sarasi Bala Debi Trust in collaboration with Surendranath Trust of Calcutta. It is the proud recipient of International School Award 2014-17 conferred by British Council.[1]
History
The first school of the Surendranath Group of Educational Institutions was established in 1883 by Rastraguru Surendranath Banerjea, one of the earliest leaders of India's Independence Movement. The Trust, set up by Sir Surendranath, is responsible for setting up and managing four schools and four colleges where young people are educated in English or regional languages. This school enjoys minority status under Article 30 of the constitution of India and is a protected institution.
The first Trustees led by Sir Surendranath Banerjea, Sir Ashutosh Chaudhuri and Shri Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri set up the National Council of Education in Calcutta, which is the Jadavpur University. Institutions run by the Trust boast of distinguished alumni: Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of India; Dr. Bijan Kumar Mukherjee, the first chief justice of the Supreme Court of India; Dr. Harendra Coomar Mukherjee, the first governor of Bengal under the Constitution.
To commemorate a hundred years after the setting up of the first school of the Surendranath Group, the school was established by Sarasi Bala Debi Trust, with assistance from other education trusts and persons, as an English medium senior secondary school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education.
Academics
The school has two buildings, one each for the primary and the senior sections. The first primary wing has its own playground and caters to the needs of new learners. It contains classes from U.K.G. to Class V.

Points are awarded. At the end of the year, the house with most points is awarded a running trophy. Pupils are individually given certificates for outstanding performances.
