Steven A. Geller (born November 4, 1958) is an attorney and politician in Florida. He was a Democratic member of the Florida Senate, representing the 31st District from 1999 to 2008 and served as the Minority Leader during 2006-08. Previously he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 through 1999.
Geller was not a candidate for reelection in 2008 due to term limits. He ran for the Broward County Commission in 2010, but fell short with 44% of the vote to 56% for Democratic incumbent Sue Gunzburger.[1][2]
Geller was the author of the Steve Geller Autism Coverage Act, which forced health insurance companies to cover Autistic children's rehabilitation/medical costs.[3] He also authored a bill mandating stronger safety standards for carnival rides after the death of Christie Schafale at the Broward County Fair.[3]
While serving in the state legislature, Geller simultaneously worked as a government affairs attorney (lobbyist) and frequently appeared before local governmental entities on behalf of clients such as local developers.[4]
Education
He received his Juris Doctorate from Florida State University.
