Stephen Murphy (civil servant)

Stephen "Steve" Murphy (born 1957) is an ex-DEA agent who, along with Javier Peña, was one of the lead investigators in the manhunt of Colombian drug smuggler Pablo Escobar.[1]

Biography

Murphy was born in Tennessee in 1957.[1] He joined DEA in mid 1980s and started working in Miami. He was transferred to Bogota, Colombia where he played an important role in the killing of Pablo Escobar.

Popular culture

He is one of the main characters in Netflix TV series Narcos, in which his character is portrayed by Boyd Holbrook.[2]
