Stephen Bridges

Stephen John Bridges LVO (born 19 June 1960) is a British diplomat who served as the British Ambassador to Cambodia between 2000 and 2005.[1]

Early life and education

After completing his secondary education at Devonport High School for Boys, Bridges read International Relations at London University before completing an MA in East Asian Studies at the University of Leeds.[1]

Career

Bridges spent 25 years of his career with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which he joined in 1980.[1] He served in several different diplomatic posts in Europe and South-East Asia, before becoming the British Ambassador to Cambodia in 2000.[1] After five years in this position, he became the Deputy High Commissioner to Dhaka, Bangladesh.[1]

In 2007, he resigned his diplomatic duties and became the director of a series of companies involved in natural resources and renewable energy, including Carbon Mining plc (2007–2008), Delta Pacific Mining plc (2007–2008) and Quantum Resources Ltd (2009–present).[1] Currently, he is the Managing Director of Greater Mekong Resources Co. Ltd, a Corporate Advisor to Elemental Energy Technologies Ltd,[1] and the Business Development Director of Blu Wind Asia.[2]

Personal life

Bridges married Kyung Mi in 1990.[1] He enjoys playing golf.[1]
