In 2005, Cramm became an apostle and a member of the Council of Twelve. On March 1, 2016, she was released as an apostle to become acting presiding bishop of the church.[3] On March 31, 2016, Cramm was appointed as the presiding bishop and a member of the First Presidency.[3] In the First Presidency, Cramm is a counselor to Prophet-President Stephen M. Veazey and succeeded Becky L. Savage.[3]

Cramm is the first woman presiding bishop in the history of the church.[1] She is also only the second person in the church to serve concurrently as presiding bishop and as a member of the First Presidency.[1] (L. F. P. Curry served as presiding bishop and as a counselor to Frederick M. Smith in 1938–40.)[1]

Cramm's counselors in the presiding bishopric are Steven E. Graffeo and Michele K. McGrath.[3][1]
