Its sister station, named Southsound Gold plays music of the 1960s through 1980s aimed at listeners in the 30+ age range.
Southsound broadcasts around the clock and offers an online service as well.[2]
History
The station was founded in 2005 by Shaun Jones, and originally played a variety of music. In 2009 Jones decided to found a second station, with each playing a different format and selection of music.[3]
The Big Show
On 25–27 August 2012, Southsound did an on-air fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The event raised more than £1,900, which was donated to the building fund of the cancer ward at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.[4]
