South City is the name given to a 31.14-acre (126,000 m2) condominium in Kolkata, India. It is situated in Prince Anwar Shah Road close to the Jodhpur Park and Tollygunge areas of the city. Most of the recent real estate developments in Kolkata has taken place in the E.M. Bypass area, New Town and Greater Kolkata. However, the South City complex is located in the heart of the city.[1]
The condominium features a Residential Complex, which includes a number of recreational facilities, School, Infirmary, Shopping Mall and a Social Club.
The Residential complex is a condominium and has 5 residential towers - 4 towers of 35 floors and 1 tower of 16 floors. As of 2013,It is the biggest mall of total East India and the 35-storied residential structures are the second tallest buildings in Eastern India and also one the tallest in the country after Urbana 1. They rise up to a height of 117 metres (384 ft). The first, second, third and fourth tower have been named as Oak, Pine, Maple and Cedar, respectively. There is also a rain water harvesting system in the complex. There are around 1700 families residing in the complex.
"South City" has become quite a landmark in the city of Kolkata.
The South City School is affiliated to the Board of Indian School Certificate Examinations and as well as an International Board.
The South City Club is supposed to have the largest swimming pool in Kolkata. The club membership has been extended to the flat/apartment owners of South City.
