Sir William Barker, 5th Baronet
Sir William Barker, 5th Baronet (1685 – 23 July 1731)[1] was a British politician.
He was the son of Sir John Barker, 4th Baronet and Bridget Bacon, daughter of Sir Nicholas Bacon.[2] In 1696, he succeeded his father as baronet.[3] He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge.[4] Barker entered the British House of Commons for Ipswich in 1708, representing it to 1713.[5] He was subsequently Member of Parliament (MP) for Thetford until 1715[6] and for Suffolk from 1722 until his death in 1731.[7]
Barker married firstly Mary Bence, only daughter of John Bence, and by her he had an only child.[8] On 9 February 1731 he married secondly Anne, widow of Edward Spencer, at St Marylebone Church in London.[2] Barker was succeeded in the baronetcy by his son John.[3]
