Shankar Sarda
Shankar Sarda (born September 4, 1937) is a critic and journalist/editor from Maharashtra, India.
Early life
Sarda was born in 1937 in Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra.
At his age 13, his first book Chatur Champa, a collection of stories for children, was published. In the next few years, many more of his children's stories were published in children's magazines, including B. R. Bhagwat's Balmitra, Sane Guruji's Sadhana, Gopinath Talwalkar's Anand, Vasudeo Krishnaji Bhave's Suman, B. R. Modak's Mulanche Masik, Virendra Adhia's Kumar, and Loksatta daily's children's section. In 1949, he attended Kumar Sahitya Sammelan, a literary conference, in Dahanu and the next year in Ahmedabad where he was felicitated as a young writer.
Education
After finishing his high school education in 1955 at New English School in Pune, Sarda received a B.A. in Marathi literature in1959 at Sir Parashurambhau College in Pune, and an M.A. In English literature in 1961 from Mumbai University. He was an Associate Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 1965.[1][2]
Sarada has traveled extensively in India and many countries in the West and the far East.
Literary work
Sarda has authored over 60 books in Marathi. He has critiqued and reviewed around 2500 books in different newspapers .
