Secret Keeper is an American melodic hardcore band from Melbourne, Florida, formed in 2013. They have released three EP’s and three official music videos.

History

Formation and Self Titled EP (2013)

Secret Keeper formed in 2013 following vocalist Kyle Burrier and guitarist Thomas Filbert leaving their previous band, Decisions.[1] Together the pair wrote the band’s debut single, “Father’s Day” which is about Kyle’s father unexpectedly passing away two years prior.[2] The pair then proceeded to write two more songs to complete their debut self-titled EP recorded with Dylan James of The Last Sleepless City.[3] While writing for their debut EP, they were then joined by bassist Devon Whitney.[4] After the EP was tracked, they were joined by Erik Giesey[5] on drums and Brian Brown,[6] long-time friend of Thomas’s, as second guitarist. After releasing their EP through up-and-coming melodic hardcore promotional YouTube channel, Dreambound, Secret Keeper completed a small tour throughout Florida.[7]

Losing Sleep EP (2014)

One year after releasing “Father’s Day,” Secret Keeper then wrote, recorded, and released a single titled, “Left Alone” and began writing for a new EP. During this time Secret Keeper parted ways with Erik and were then joined by Dylan Honkonen[8] on drums who also previously played with Kyle and Thomas in Decisions. Secret Keeper then parted ways with Devon prior to embarking on a summer tour throughout the Southeastern and Midwestern United States.[9]

In September, Secret Keeper began recording their second EP, titled Losing Sleep, at Glow in the Dark Studios[10] with Matt McClellan.[11] Shortly after recording their second EP, Secret Keeper then left for a short east coast tour during the fall.[12] In December, Secret Keeper released its official music video for the song “Everything Falls Apart” off of Losing Sleep just before embarking on a tour across the United States.[13] While on tour, the band released Losing Sleep.[14][15]

Breaking up and Gravestones (2015)

In early 2015, Michael Johnson joined as bassist.[16] Shortly after, Secret Keeper would announce their “farewell show” in May.[17] By fall the Secret Keeper Facebook page became active again. In November the band announced they were back together and would be releasing a new single.[18] Upon releasing the single titled “Gravestones,” Secret Keeper announced they had begun writing for a new EP.[19]

Reunion and Ghost EP (2016-present)

In early 2016, Secret Keeper began recording their third EP at Sunray Recording Studio.[20] The band released their second music video for the song “Haunt” followed shortly after by the entire Ghost EP. The band is currently preparing to tour again.[21]
