Samuel M. Reed
Samuel Marvin Reed (1901 – 1996) was an American businessman. He was the founder and chief executive officer of Reed Speaker Company, which made car window speakers for drive-in theaters.
Birth
Reed was born in Indiana in 1901. His parent's names are unknown. He is believed to have had one sibling, a sister.
Later life
He married Edna Thomas in 1931. She died, still married to Reed, in 1993.
Reed became a salesman of radio equipment in 1940.
As of 1940, the year of the latest census released, he had two children: Kenneth B. Reed, his son, and a daughter, whose name is unknown; both are presumed to be living.
Reed lived with his family in various places around Colorado .
Reed Speaker Company
He founded Reed Speaker Company in the late 1950s to early 1960s. Based in Golden, Colorado, the company produced drive-in speakers until the late 1970s.
A presumed five patents about drive-in speakers were filed in Reed's name.
Death
He died in 1996, at age 95, in Orange, California. The cause of death is unknown, but believed to be simply old age. Reed died a month before his birthday.
