SLC39A4 is a transmembrane protein associated with acrodermatitis enteropathica.[1] Recently, researchers have hypothesized that acrodermatitis enteropathica may be caused by a mutation in the gene SLC39A4 coding for the hZip4 Zn transporter present in intestinal cells of the intestine.[2]
