Richard Jones Berwyn

Richard Jones Berwyn (1836–1917) was an early Welsh colonist in Patagonia. He was born Richard Jones, in Glyndyfrdwy, Wales. He adopted the surname 'Berwyn' sometime later, when, on the invitation of Michael D. Jones, he decided to join the first batch of Welsh emigrants to Patagonia in 1865, with intention of settling as part of a Welsh colony.

He held a number of official positions in the Welsh Patagonian colony: Secretary to the Council, Secretary to the Welsh Courts, Postmaster, Registrar, and Schoolmaster. He also edited and published a number of publications.

He died on Christmas Day 1917.[1]
