Facts

History

The Richard F. Irvine Riverboat was named after the Disney executive Richard Irvine and was the second riverboat to enter into service on the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom Park. Its counterpart, the Admiral Joe Fowler Riverboat, served from October 2, 1971, through 1980. The Richard F. Irvine was completely refurbished and returned to service in 1996 as the Liberty Belle Riverboat. The Liberty Belle underwent an extensive rehab from September 2005 to September 2006 and is now back plying the waterways of Magic Kingdom.

Richard Irvine was the father-in-law of Imagineer and Disneyland Art Director Kim Irvine, whose mother is the late Leota Toombs.
