Rashad Robinson is an American civil rights leader and nonprofit executive. He serves as executive director of Color of Change, having joined the organization in May 2011.[1] He is a board member of RaceForward,[2] Demos,[3] and State Voices.[4]

Color of Change has a stated mission of strengthening the political voice of black America and making government more responsive to their concerns. Robinson has organized many of the organization's initiatives, including a campaign against the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).[5] Under Robinson's leadership, ColorOfChange played an important role in successful efforts to protect the principle of net neutrality by pushing the FCC to reclassify broadband as a common carrier service. In 2015, ColorOfChange was ranked 6th on Fast Company's list of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World.[6]

From 2010–2014, Robinson was selected as one of "The Root 100," a list of emerging and influential African Americans under 45.[7][8][9] He has made numerous media appearances in a variety of outlets, including NPR,[10] MSNBC,[11] and CNN. His writings and op-eds have appeared in The Guardian,[12] New York Times,[13] Huffington Post,[14] and many other publications. He has previously held leadership roles at GLAAD,[15] the Right to Vote Campaign,[16][17] and FairVote.[18]

Ebony Magazine has identified Rashad Robinson as one of several "breakthrough leaders who have stepped up and are moving forward in the perpetual fight for justice."[19] In 2015, Huffington Post featured Rashad Robinson in a series highlighting "some of the people and issues that will shape the world in the next decade." [20] In May 2015, Robinson was conferred an honorary doctoral degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland.[21]
