Priolo Gargallo (Sicilian: Priolu) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Syracuse, Sicily (Italy). It is about 190 kilometres (120 mi) southeast of Palermo and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) northwest of Syracuse. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 12,009 and an area of 57.6 square kilometres (22.2 sq mi).[1]
The name Priolo Gargallo comes from the nobleman Marquis Gargallo who owned land in this part of Sicily.
