Pickings is an upcoming crime drama film written and directed by Usher Morgan. The film stars Elyse Price, Joel Bernard, Katie Vincent, Yaron Urbas and Taso Mikroulis. The film was announced during a press event at the 2015 Manhattan Film Festival.

Premise

When a short-tempered mobster and his gang of thugs try to shake down a neighborhood bar, they're soon confronted with the wrath of its owner - a mysterious southern woman with a dangerous past.

Production

Usher Morgan wrote the script and will be serving as the film's director and producer. Principal photography began in March, 2016.[1] A concept trailer for the film was released on August 7, 2015 in a press release by Digital Magic Entertainment.[2][3][4]

Pickings is Morgan's first feature film. Principle photography is currently being held in the New York City area under a $250,000 budget. The film will introduce and mix elements commonly found in Neo-noir and Spaghetti Western films to produce an experimental new look, which Morgan refers to as "Spaghetti Noir".[5][6] According to the film's IMDB page, Morgan announced his plans to work with Louis Obioha as the film's cinematographer, Obioha served as Morgan's cinematographer on his previous comedy short, Prego.
