Peravaram is a village located East Godavari District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.[1] Located 25 km from Rajahmundry City and 90 km distance from Kakinada. As of 2001 India census,[2] Peravaram had a population of 4000. This village has boundaries on the East at Godavari river, on the West by the main canal, on the North by Bobbarlanka village and on the South, by cropland. Peravaram has potable drinking water, irrigation canals, drainage system, panchayat, veterinary hospital, RMP doctors, Indiramma houses, two primary schools and one high school.

Economy

As with the entire region, the most important economic activity is agriculture. The village has dry land to the east and wet land to the west. Paddy and black gram are cultivated on wet lands and corn is grown on the dry lands. As the Godavari west canal does not provide irrigation for rabi season, the fields are left empty during the summer. Aquaculture, mostly prawns, meant for the export are cultivated along the banks of Godavari river. Dairy, wild poultry, sheep and goat farming are also followed, mainly to supplement the agricultural income. Being in the Konaseema delta region, Peravaram has sufficient irrigation source all round the year.
